Izak Zenou: Dowlings at the Carlyle

Dates: Tuesday, December 23 / Monday December 29 — 2025

Location: The Carlyle / The Downing's

Celebrated French fashion illustrator Izak Zenou brought his distinctive artistry to The Carlyle Hotel as a featured artist for Dowling's at the Carlyle's innovative "Illustrator Tea" experience. The weekly Monday afternoon event, held from noon to 3 p.m. in the elegant dining room, offered guests an intimate encounter with one of fashion's most sought-after illustrators, whose clientele includes Chanel, Celine, Estée Lauder, and publications like Vogue and Elle.

During these sessions, Zenou joined guests for afternoon tea service, capturing moments in real-time through bespoke live sketches that guests took home as personal keepsakes. This residency represents a perfect marriage of The Carlyle's storied creative legacy—famously home to Ludwig Bemelmans' whimsical murals—and Zenou's joyful, sophisticated illustration style. Known for his love of women in fashion, combined with an undeniable sense of irony and seemingly effortless hand, Zenou's presence at this iconic Upper East Side institution added a contemporary twist to the hotel's tradition of celebrating art and illustration in all its forms.
